ABOUT
A Bit of Background
As of December 2020, Corpus Christi became the 6th city in Texas to be designated as a Dementia Friendly City by Dementia Friendly America (DFA). This initiative is addressing the aging population and the concurrent rise in the number of adults living with dementia. Our city will be informed, safe and respectful of individuals with symptoms of dementia, their families and caregivers. It will provide supportive options to them to foster quality of life.

Our mission engages with community partners to educate and empower our community with information to enhance the dignity of persons living with dementia. We aim to reduce social stigma and isolation, and to provide educational and supportive services to persons diagnosed with dementia, their families and their caregivers. Every part of the community plays a role in creating a dementia friendly culture.
OUR STORY
The Why?
Dementia Friendly Corpus Christi Initiative began due to the lack of community support for those living with cognitive illnesses. Our team of community stakeholders, including individuals living with Dementia, has come together to bridge the gap. Our desire to see Corpus Christi become a Dementia Friendly City fuels our passion for fostering a dementia-centric environment for our community members.
